When people think of Washington D.C., they think of the beautiful monuments such as the White House, U.S. Capitol, Washington Monument, and museums surrounding the whole district. While these places are always a sight to see, D.C. is known as well for its unique bars and restaurants that make you want to come back for more. With over 100 bars and restaurants in the district, Citiskopes and I are here to tell you the top 5 unique and amazing bars and restaurants in Washington D.C.

Founding Farmers

Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you will not be disappointed in the great selections that Founding Farmers has to offer at the affordable price. Food inspired by American culture classics, Found Farmers live on making all of their foods and drinks fresh from scratch to provide the best quality cuisine. If you are around this place for breakfast though, definitely try their poached egg hash. It is delicious and out of this world!

Ben’s Chili Bowl


Open since 1958, Ben’s Chili Bowl has been a historic staple eatery in D.C. and is well known for their smoked dishes, as well as their most popular dish the chili half-smoke, half pork and half beef smoked sausage on a bun. During his time in the White House, one of President Barack Obama's go-to spots were Ben's Chili Bowl, doesn't that says a lot of the eatery?


Hogo has cool fluorescent lights throughout its bar, which pretty appealing to the eye upon entering. Bartender Mick Perrigo prepares Hugo's drinks serves flaming tiki drinks (as in the picture above), which you don’t see in your drink every day. Just be careful, because the drinks are flaming hot! Instagram worthy or not?

Red Derby


This spacious bar offers a lot of activities with its wide selection of popular classic board games, as well as pool tables. If you don’t feel like playing any games, then that is fine! The roof deck is vast and is surrounded by beautiful lights making it a great place to mingle with friends and others. Red Derby also has great eco prices with its beer specials that not many bars offer.

Game of Thrones Pop-Up Bar til August 27th

What was once a Super Mario themed pop-up bar, has now changed into a Game of Thrones themed pop-up bar. Southern Efficiency based off the popular television show, Games of Thrones, Southern Efficiency pop-up bar features three separate bars designed to showcase the shows main locations, such as The North, The Red Keep, The House of Black and White, and Meereen. What is also unique about this pop-up bar is its house-mixed drinks that are related to the show, such as the “Dothraquiri”. Did I mention that they have an iron throne that you can sit on as well? You have to go soon however as this bar is only open until August 27th, sorry Khal Drogo.
